Reddot Design Award 2009

Laminate flooring Edition 1, for which six top international designers and architects each designed two flooring decors, has been given the coveted “reddot award: product design 2009”. The “reddot award”, which has been given out by the Design Zentrum Nordrhein-Westfalen in Essen since 1992, enjoys a worldwide reputation as a recognised design prize.

Among the 3231 innovations submitted in the 'product design' category by around 1400 companies from 49 countries, Parador's designer collection, Laminate flooring Edition 1, impressed a renowned panel of experts, which came together for a week at the initiator in Essen to judge the product in person. Like all products submitted, the laminate collection Edition 1 with its 12 stand-alone flooring patterns, was also subjected to a round of strict assessment criteria, which is constantly adapted to the latest findings about formal, technical, production, social, economic and ecological requirements.

Is the product new as a whole or does it add a new, desirable quality to what already exists? In the face of questions like this about its degree of innovation, but also about its functionality, formal quality, symbolic and emotional substance and its self-declaration quality, the designer collection launched in international markets in January 2009 was able to convince the international jury panel. Parador values its successful participation in the “reddot design award” as a guarantee of being able to expand its prominent position as a performance leader among the international competition, and at the same time as an acknowledgement of its innovation strategy, which consistently combines design competence and technological new developments. Design-loving visitors to the “reddot museum” at the Zollverein Coal Mine Industrial Complex in Essen will also in future come across exhibits from Laminate flooring Edition 1 among the world's biggest exhibition of contemporary designs. “Laminate flooring Edition 1 gives the floor a new significance, without having to set it in an unfamiliar spatial context. It is allowed to remain a floor and support life.” The designers' twelve decors appreciate material and finishing as an aesthetic value. Parador created the basis for its technical implementation with the digital ArtPrint technology.
